Bass
The bass guitar is an instrument that was once classified as just another piece of the rhythm section. Thankfully, this is not the case anymore! The bass is an immensely valued rhythmic medium, and now is viewed as a contemporary leader in many bands. Some artists, such as Death From Above 1979. only have a rhythm section consisting of a bass and drums. This provides the bass guitar an opportunity to show its potential as a strong soloist that deserves attention. Some songs are even dedicated to celebrating the brilliance of the bass, such as Spinal Tap's "Big Bottom". Our students will gain an in-depth understanding of what makes the bass so valuable to the contemporary music industry. They will learn the skills they need to develop a stand-alone bass lick that makes good songs better, and better songs excellent. Also studied will be the diverse moods that the bass can produce and how they can be applied in all styles. At the Cherry Beach School of Music, students will be strongly encouraged to explore the vast potential of the bass guitar in today's industry.
Drums
Learn a new groove or fill in the morning and use it on stage that same afternoon under the supervision of working professionals. Gain first-hand access to some of the greatest drummers in the music industry through frequent clinics and concerts. We give you the real-world experience and confidence you'll need to meet the changing demands of the profession, while preserving your individual vision as a player. Percussion instruments are very versatile and expressive, their rhythmic capabilities can be shown through many styles. We encourage our students to explore many different techniques and styles to further their musical strengths. Ranging from world music, to jazz, the drums are pertinent to all genres. They are responsible for creating a sense of unison between band members and organizing the overall songs structure and flow.
Vocals
The Cherry Beach School of Music recognizes the voice as a one-of-a-kind instrument. Each student who chooses to take vocal lessons has a different timbre and uniqueness to his/her voice that cannot be exactly mimicked. All instruments create sounds by mechanics or physics, but none can create the natural tone that a voice is capable of producing. For this reason, at the Cherry Beach School of music we encourage our students to explore as many styles as they can to allow them the opportunity to find their own natural voice and style. We prepare our students for both performance and studio recording in the modern world of music. Combining technical and creative development with continuous live performing experience, our program is designed to build your technique and stylistic identity as well as confidence in your abilities as a professional. As a student, you take the skills you develop in classes and private lessons directly to the stage, learning not just how to sing, but how to communicate effectively with a live audience.
